"Hi Eldon,
About a month ago I wanted to order 5 dozen kits and couldn't find you. [So I bought another brand.] About a week after receiving and distributing the kits to the kids I received your post card.
Not only did we pay more [for the other brand of car kits] but the "slop" between the wheel and axle is terrible.
We try to make our event fair and competitive for all the kids but with competitive dads and "sloppy wheels" it's impossible.
No matter what the rules, those with money, time, and resources can fix the "slop". That's not available to all the kids. The winners are suspected of cheating, somehow, and that encourages protests. The officials have to make judgments which are often seen as "taking sides". It's all counter productive to the goals of the event for the kids.
Your wheels and axles avoided all that because there is little one can do to improve them. Just lubricate and run them in and it's as good as it's going to get. The kids can concentrate on design and decoration and be competitive on race day. There are a lot less teary eyes and uptight dads!" . . .Don
